I wondered where all the people were driving decent cars; guess they don't come out till later in the evening.

I was headed home tonight from work again. Closer to Schoolcraft this time. (I'll leave the road names out today so these fake races don't seem too real.) I see a Caprice/Impala headed in the opposite direction. I thought it was my friend from down the street. so i just tapped the gas a little and waived at him. I look in the rear view mirror and the Black Impala Ss turned around.

I come to the stop and make a left. I see he's finally caught up, so I was going pretty slow. I get up to right around 40mph, and he's barreling up on ass after making the turn. I decided what the heck and laid into it. To about 120mph he was 1/2 car from my rear bumper the whole time. I let up for the impending curve.

After the curve the SS whips in the other lane and passes me and gets in front of me. I see clouds of blue smoke as he's throwing revvs at me. I could have sworn it was my friend as he has a 94 SS clone(383 with subpar rings) that burns oil too.) He pulls into the gas station, and so do I. Low and behold it's not my friend.

Guy works at Cole-Krum as head mechanic. He's got a T56 6 speed conversion in the car. Forgot to ask what rear gears. 383 Stroker, he said with LT4 heads/intake that had been ported/polished. Cam he was running an LT4 HotCam. Not really an ideal cam especially for a Stroker, but it is a good highway racing cam. I was surprised though he didn't pull on me at all. He said he had just finished with the motor, and the usual hand color confirmed it (probably why it was burning oil).

He says your car is pretty quick.

He didn't know the other guy, but now he knows OF him...
