I have a 95 2dr integra ls and its red. but i have these annoying black bars across my door and in front of the rear wheel. what should i do with it, remove it, paint it or something else and is it worth doin it and how would i do it?
Demz
ok i see, when i read black door bars in your other post i was like wtf??

they're called side molding btw

what i was gonna do with mine, was pull them off, and put a universal strip back on, that didnt stick out as far, and was paintable. what you can do is have them shaved off, which involves pulling them off, covering the holes, and respraying the car. IMO its worth getting around to shaving them, because i absolutely hate side molding and i think they look ugly on any car.
timflagg
yeah sorry i forgot what they wer called. but they are hiddious and cause rattleing when i play music since i have a dent under one of them
Casey
I would just paint them if I were you, unless your whole car NEEDS a paintjob. To remove them would involve taking apart the interior to get access to the clips in the back, welding over the holes, and then repainting (which would end up being most of the side of the car all said and done). I hate how they look on my car, but you get used to them being there after awhile.

yeah you can paint them. not too difficult of a job.

like i said in another post, check out www.team-integra.net. they have LOTS of articles and how-to's for the integra. great info site.

I think you can paint the moldings (just like if you were to paint the side skirts...?) Shaving them would be kinda expensive, but would be clean... Just remember they are somewhat functional....but are truly ugly as hell
timflagg
my entire car needs a paint job since i removed rust and replaced it. its some temorary paint and i use team-integra.net alot
Demz
yea, painting them would be a quick, inexpensive fix. shaving would be a long term project, but look better IMO

btw i edited your title for ya, just to clarify

rust? rear panel rot i'm assuming? did you bondo or weld in new metal? i'm in the process of tracking down a rear D/S panel, but they're hard to find in good condition..if i can't find one by this spring i might just give in and bondo.
timflagg
i had a hard time findin a rear d/s panel too so i rivited in some metal ( not poorly put in ) and tryed to use the least of bondo. its perfect tho. i did a great job and it looks exactly the way it was stock
Casey
do you have any pics of when you were doing the project? i'd be interested.

I actually thought it was gonna look like a hack job, but I have to admit it looks good. Just keep the side moldings. I personally like the darker side moldings with black wheels and a CF hood. And an unpainted SiR lip. It seems to flow better. If your even thinking of those options....
kzoomatt
I think they look good painted it's really easy to do and takes less then 5 hours.( most of the time is painting drying.)
