Has anyone else been put through this cluster? I thought I was being a good friend when i agreed to do this job for $250 laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif . So anyway 4 hrs for tear down(oh the stock clutch is still good) we open the box for the stage 2 clutch kit, open all the plastic, lift the pressure plate off of the disk,WTF!!!!??, we have in our possesion a one called windowed clutch disk by spec clutches. These are notorious for blowing out around 20k with moderate abuse.Well, the funny part of the story is that the kid who owns the car is in the national guard and was in training for two weeks, now i have a diabled vehicle sitting in my one car garage and a clutch that i refuse to put in. My only choice becuase the owner was returning in 48hrs was to put the whole thing back together by myself becuase my helper decided he had other things to do when it came time to do work. It was fun i cant wait to actually put a clutch in it, so words of advice open the package and inspect your products before completly dismatling your vehicle. Also on top of that my car sat out in my driveway for two weeks under a tarp while this devil vehicle was invading its space.

I like my Stage III 6-Puck Copper Ceramic...

I'll probably destroy the flywheel before the clutch with those 3500 rpm clutch drops. lmfao.

My clutch is spec too, but stage 3.5 6 puck 3000lb pressure plate. It is a slight pain in the ass to drive on the street basically i have to slip first all the way out. I am impressed with mine though but the one my friend received is defintly lower quality than some other stage 2 clutches i have seen.

Auto to manual in a couger that sounds like alot of fun.

i assume/hope you meant three HUNDRED lb rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

i would say that having to slip 1st is pretty poor quality already... why the hell do you have such a hardcore clutch on (what i'm sure is) a stock motor?

Well, realtivly stock kind of. All stock internals currently but, i was planning on boosting then i was gonna spray then i was gonna do this and that. So i did the big clutch to insure what ever I did I wouldn't have to swap clutch's after a few hundred miles. The 3.5 does work well, just from a stop is a pain slipping "all the way" through first is a slight exsageration but, none the less it is a grippy bastard. It serves my current hp/tq output well and will still be ok to use with my bigger motor in august.

turbo or blown? wanna post/link some pics and/or HP specs (since i'm sure this is just a bolt on kit, right?)

If I do go FI it will be turbo for sure and most of the kits for my car are all the same. I have a video of a 540hp probe on myspace that i found on youtube, i have tried to email the guy who posted it because he has acheived what i am aiming for and want to get some input. Then again i hve a nack for staying n/a becuase it is proven that 480hp can be extracted from these motors, i can get 300hp out of my new motor that i am building, tring to figure out the other 180hp.The bad thing is to get 300 out of it i have to go .40 over 11.1 pistons, ported ze heads and intake manifold, colt race cams, full stand alone, and a few other tweeks and then after all that turbocharging is out of the question unless i want to run 5-7 psi. Granted it would be turbo and 5-7psi is an ok gain but, then i would be maxed out under 400hp uuummm, not enough. Well then i can do the same motor build as above and then spray 100/125 through it which is possible with percise tuning the motor itself will handle it, if it dosent blow up before tuning is dead on. And, then i would still really have a 300hp motor becuase i do want to beable to drive it on the street and not have to feed it with nitrious just to go to the store ect.

But, my cuurent engine has only 3000 miles on it, completly rebuilt tons of top end work, non tuned has not been on a dyno, our guestamation is between 230-250hp and somewhere the same torque wise also. Trasmission is fully upgraged "stage 2" no more plastic sycros brand new gear set slightly taller 3th and 5th. I want to run spray to this one and see what i can get out of it reliabily and run it that way until i configure the new motor. I would turbo my current engine, except that the only internal mod is that the rods and crank are fully balanced and polished, along with clevite and total seal goodies. Everything is from the motor stock that had 91k on it and boosting on the stock pistons after being in the tank and being ran the way that they have i dont want to risk destroying the motor becuase i have a kid that will buy it when the other one is done. Then again painting it, making sure everything is good and selling the whole thing and buying something new always seems like a good idea.

Yeah I have the stage 2 in my car, havn't had a prblem yet, I'm sure I'm hovering around that "notorious" mileage, but My odometer/speedo quit on me. I wouldn't be suprised if the culprit to the blowouts was a lack of sticking to the break in period!! Plus I don't abuse the shit outta my clutch. Seems like the diff would give out first...haha

P.S., last time I swaped out my trans I finished in 4-6 hrs. working by myself.
