Looking into putting a new system into my SE-R very soon. I'm wanting to get a clear crisp sound with some bass in it. I listen to mostly rock/punk/metal. So I'm not going to much into deep bass just crisp. Right now I'm debating on to roll. 10"s will probally give me the clear sound I want. Was wondering on which brand has a crisp sound. Alphasonik is something I'm looking at right now. Also Clif Designs is another brand I'm looking into. I know I should run a mono amp/amps. Just don't know if I should run 2x monos for the 2 10"s and a 4 channel for the speakers(going to mount another battery). Or use the head unit power on the speakers and run 2 monos. Or even run 1 mono and 1 10". Maybe even a high watt 2 channel for the subs. I believe I should run 2 10"s for bass range I listen too. Any opinions or thoughts would help? Or even another high end brand I could look into too.

ugh... get one larger mono to run the subs.... you don't want to run the subs on separate amps/channels.
I'll say this; the 12" kicker comp i just got sounds good with every kind of music i've played so far.
john had a pair of 10" alpine type-r's for sale too....
Skip the alphasoniks. I wasn't impressed with them at all.
Run a single amp to the 2 10's.

I wasn't impressed with Alpine since I blew a 1222D in a few short months. But thanks for the advice on skipping out on Alphasoniks. I was considering Kicker L7 10"s just didn't know if the sound would be crisp.

AA just released the new assassin line. what's your budget?

Budget is about anywhere, I'm willing to pour 2.5K into the whole thing if it sounds just right.

have you decided on front stage? active/passive? 2/3way?
rear fill?
whatever you do, don't skimp on patch cables. i love the knuconceptz krystal kables. cheap and awesome quality. i suggest you spend the most time researching amps and main/front stage. even basic 2way passive main stage can sound amazing.
also, don't hack the install especially with speakers and sub encolsures. how experienced are you? do you plan on installing? i'd dampen and seal your front doors before anything. that alone will make factory speakers sound awesome, lol

if you are willing to spend 2.5k on it then take it to Dashworks and talk to kevin. he will make your car sound flawless for that kind of money.
knuconcepts LOL....wow
or you could just take some dog shit and sprinkle some glitter on it cuz it basically the same thing.
unless you actually have heard good cables then you can't say anything otherwise you comparing shit to shit and it all smells the same.
look i'm not telling what to buy but one rule of thumb especially when it comes to car audio YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. you buy cheap you get cheap.
if this were a conversation about engine/car parts it would be a different story nobody would be suggesting to put in cheap quality equipment into your engine/car, so why do it to you audio?
same thing when you bought your car. you could have a bought a chevy aveo but you wanted something with a little more hp/quality right?

I understand your passion for car audio, but you shouldn't let some ignorant little girl who wants a cheap CD player ruin your night... notice in this thread, where somebody expressed interest in GOOD audio equipment, I told them to contact you. We all know that the Dashwork's has the best equipment and installation in our area. Some people just simply don't WANT the best...
well we have radios that start at $80. it's just the point of it.
i do appreciate YOU suggesting to people to Dashworks but YOU and SpoolinSol are the only 2 that do. everybody else is saying to go somewhere else.

i think what we are trying to say here is this... if a store sells washer/dryer sets, alarm clocks, and steering wheel covers, it's NOT a good place to buy GOOD audio equipment.
holdontotheend, do yourself a favor and go talk to kevin at dashworks on westnege. if you want award-worthy car audio/video, then you've got to go to an award-worthy business. dashworks has all the right equipment, knowledge, and most importantly, REPUTATION, which makes them hands down the best option for all of your car A/V needs.

i'm suggesting that 99% of the people who are doing audio want decent and cheap, which they are both. with my decent and cheap systems in the past, they have worked well. i'd be willing to bet with the rest of my decent and cheap audio parts, my ears won't be able to tell the difference between a $30 and $200 cable.
obviously with a 2.5k budget, he can afford better, but... i guess that's up to him to decide on

Yeah its about a 2.5K budget but I'm factoring in a $500 head unit so its around 2K for the system. Fine fine I'll stop into Dashworks sometime when I actually have time. Right now I'm working a few days overtime for the big bucks. Just curious does Dashworks do custom boxes to my taste... ex. I want to have the subs/amps somewhat hidden in the trunk. Like each sub behind the wheel wells and the amps where the spare tire is located.
we're the only place in town that'll do custom work.

well i guess that would imply that all we have is really expensive stuff and nothing decent and cheap, which is not true. i can put together a full system deck, fronts, rears, amp, subs, cables and installed for less than $1200. we have a wide selection from cheap and decent to high end.
the thing that just amazes me is that here Dashworks is kind enough to let everybody hang out on Friday nights and yet nobody bothers to return the favor. it's a slap in the face is what it is.

Kevin; how much would you charge to build me a MDF box for one 12" kicker comp for the Sol? doesn't need to be fancy or anything; just easily removable for the track, and secure enough for cobalt-style high speed maneuvers... lmk, thx mang!
etc.

Let me get this straight:
Anyone that buys parts used, that they other wise can’t afford new makes them ignorant? You came across cool headed in my thread but more like an asshat in this one.
And Stock not once in that thread did you mention that you had CD players that fit in the budget. The only mention of cost was $150 for an installed CD player, which wasn’t by you.
If you want our business, PM/post some part #s and cost for us.
You should treat those threads like a business opportunities...

she is ignorant if she thinks she can get a "cool one" for under $100.
(edit) by the way, calling somebody ignorant isn't suppose to be a put-down. it's the word you use to describe somebody who has no knowledge on a particular subject. i wasn't being a dick, i was being honost.

having spent a fair amount of money through Dashworks, I'll vouch that Kevin's the shit! He helped me a lot when he was working for Classic, and then a helluva lot more when he got to Dashworks. Anyone who has anything bad to say about em obviously hasn't done any business with them in the past 5 years....that or they don't have a bit of an idea what the hell they're talking about. Kevin at Dashworks is one of the most knowledgeable people i've met in the industry, and I've been dinking with Car Audio for the past 20 years. There ain't too many people on this forum who remember what a Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 hooked up to a Fosgate Power 15 in a 3 cubic foot box sounds like......I'm one of em.

Shit... I have reccomended Dash Works on here a few times. I also have sent a few people your way that I know out side of Kzoorice. Not too long ago my buddy had a $400 deck installed by you guys.

If Dashworks cant hook you up in your price range or something hit me up. I can get my dad to do some work for you. If you take a look at my Z, you will see the custom work put into that. My dad used to do all that stuff back in the day. He worked with one of the guys down at Dashworks (Andy) and knew Kevin briefly back when Kevin got into the stuff.

I would agree that Dashworks is awesome. Dashworks is a good business to go through. It is the best place around for Car Audio around Kalamazoo area. I know quite a bit just from my dad and all the shit Ive heard. As my dad was an IASCA Judge and Competed too. I dont know how many people around here remember Dash Mobile? Im sure you might ShoToonz if youve been around for awhile. He used to work down there and do alot. My dad worked with one the guys down at Dashworks, Andy. From what I know and hear Ill deffinantly say you got some good guys working down there and will get your shit hooked up right.
