Pardon my noobishness...
If you into road racing you may want to check out SATCAR.
They are running out at Gingerman in a few weeks Oct 18-19.
SATCAR is basically a run-what-you-brung road race league. The cars start based on qualifying times, slowest cars start first, chased by the faster cars. First one across the finish wins. (Sorta like bracket racing at the dragstrip.)
Any car can run- doesn't have a full-tilt race car, just a safe street car.
If you have some experience- you can run in the race.
If you want to get some road course experience, you can run in the practice/lapping group, and have an instructor ride along.
Either way, you get tons of track time. I ran three races with them so far this year- tons of fun. I'll be out at Gingerman.
There are still spots open for Gingerman, so they've waived the late fee.

The pics are from the SATCAR race at Blackhawk Farms in Sep.

If it is like a bracket kind of thing, And anybody can race. Hmmm! It sounds as though you might have a pretty good chance of getting smacked by another driver. Specailly when you have people trying to be first. WMHM seemed more controlled.

I can see where some might have concerns about car to car contact, but it really is safe.
I've raced w/ SATCAR since 2005, no car to car contact ever.
You do have to meet minimum experience rules in order to race.
For those who want more experience they offer instruction.
